About one year ago we were lucky enough to add Jean Pierre Viranet to the Spark team. Whilst in the past We have concentrated very much on sports cars with enclosed wheel bodywork the arrival of JP has allowed us to begin a whole new series of classic F1 cars starting with a 1962 BRM, a 1970 Matra and a 1964 Ferrari (in our "Red Line" sister brand) We have many more in our 2009 production schedule so keep an eye out for them in the "upcoming models" pages of this site.
Jean Pierre has been producing model cars since 1976 first as a personal hobby and then for AMR after the owner of the brand saw an article on JP's early card models in a well known french car magazine. JP stayed with AMR for four years before setting up his own brand "Tenariv" which concentrated primarily on F1 cars. During the next 26 years he produced over 300 different car kits and his brand became very well known and respected in the Model Kit world.
Now that JP has joined us bringing his specialised knowledge and enthusiasm for open wheelers, we are happy to begin producing our series of Classic F1 cars. These models with their exposed engines and suspension presented a new set of casting and assembly difficulties that do not exist in the same way in closed wheel cars. JP's arrival at Spark has added another skill set to our production team and provided us with an additional layer of expertise that has been useful as well as enjoyable for the rest of us here at our factory.
We hope that you will like them as much as we have enjoyed researching and producing them.
