1/87th Scale Models

We are adding this new scale to our line up. Whilst 1/43rd scale is undoubtedly the most widely collected, 1/87th has always drawn collectors attracted to "extreme" miniaturization either for the simple delight of seeing tiny reproductions or for reasons of restricted space for housing their collections.

Certainly 1/87th lends itself to dioramas such as sections of track, racing pits and street scenes. This is hardly surprising as it is a scale that has been very widely used by builders of model railway layouts for many years.

We hope that you will agree with us that despite their diminutive size we are bringing a new degree of fineness of detailing, both in casting techniques and paint finish, to this scale. We look forward to seeing our models in our friends' collections and dioramas around the world.

Le Mans Miniatures joins the family

We are delighted to announce our collaborative venture with Benoit Moro and his company, "Le Mans Miniatures". Benoit has been in the car modelling business for many years having worked for Solido before starting his own company in 1991 where he has been making beautiful models ever since. When we met we found that we not only had a lot in common but also found that we could be mutually supportive in developing our respective lines of models. He brings us added depth in modelling skills and we can help him produce his "Le Mans Miniatures" at our expanding factory in China where production costs are lower than in Europe

Benoit brings us new modelling techniques that we can use for improving our models as well as a subtly different modeller's eye. It has long been my experience that different modellers and collectors often focus on differing aspects of models. The eyes of some will notice crisp, clean casting above all, others focus on fineness of detail such as wheels or photo etching. Yet others look for accuracy and sharpness in decals or the excellence of paint finish. All collectors however are drawn to models which are pleasing to their eye. Benoit is, we know, helping us along the road towards the perfect model by bringing his own techniques and critical eye
